Hello 👋
Lately, we keep running into the same question:
“Is software development dead?” “Will AI take our jobs?”
To be honest, this debate isn’t new.
The only difference is that this time, it’s called artificial intelligence.
I’d like to share my perspective on this topic.
Will AI Take Software Developers’ Jobs?
Short answer: No, at least not anytime soon.
Long answer:
We’ve seen these kinds of “revolutionary” claims before.
- When visual programming emerged
- When the “no-code” movement started
- When people said we’d write code just by speaking English
Even back in the late 90s and early 2000s:
It was claimed that an accountant could build their own ERP system using drag-and-drop tools.
So, what happened?
👉 Every single time, the demand for developers increased.
Because here’s the truth:
Software development doesn’t die. It evolves.
Why Isn’t the Software Industry Dying?
Because as technology advances:
- More problems emerge
- Systems become more complex
- The need for expertise increases
So AI isn’t eliminating jobs,
it’s changing the nature of them.
Areas That Are at Risk
Let’s be honest—yes, some areas are at risk 👇
- Simple websites
- Repetitive tasks
- Template-based projects
Today, even someone with zero technical knowledge can:
Create a website they want with just a few prompts.
And most of the time:
👉 The result is even better than they imagined.
So What Should We Do?
Here’s the key point:
AI is not a competitor, it’s a tool.
You need to ask yourself:
“Will AI replace me, or will it amplify my abilities?”
If you’re only doing simple tasks:
Yes, you might be at risk.
But if you are:
- Solving problems
- Designing systems
- Building products
👉 Then AI becomes your hammer.
And you are the carpenter using it.
Who Will Win in the Future?
- Those who actively use AI
- Those who know how to write effective prompts
- Those who keep learning
- Those who think beyond code and focus on products
Because it’s no longer just about writing code,
it’s about creating value.
Conclusion: Software Isn’t Dead, It Leveled Up
The software industry isn’t dying.
It’s just becoming more demanding, more selective, and more powerful.
Which means:
👉 Average will be filtered out
👉 The skilled will rise
What Do You Think?
Do you think AI will:
- Replace developers?
- Or make them more powerful?
